AOD is a kind of smelting equipment where final deoxidization and alloying of liquid steel take place. When refining stainless steel, inert gases(Ar, N2) are blown in at the same time as oxygen is under standard atmospheric pressure. Decarburization, during which the ratio between Ar and O constantly changes during the process, takes place with inert gases and oxygen. It can be fake vacuum with the reduction of CO’s partial pressure so that the content of carbon reaches a very low level and it can inhibit Cr oxidation in steel.
It is suitable for production of low carbon and ultra low carbon stainless steel and it can easily control the content of S in special steel below 0.005%. AOD can practise the secondary steel-making. For the refining purpose, it can flexibly increase or decrease the related elements.
The transmission of AOD can be pendulum or horizontal type. Blowing, controlled manually or automatically, can be top and bottom, (side) combined manner.
The category ranges from 300 series and 200 series stainless steel to 316, 304 series low carbon stainless steel. The equipments have been upgraded from semi-automatic control to intelligent computer control. AOD is operated easily and reliably. Automatic process control is stably executed.
